Over half of the countries radio listeners are women but very few presenters are women. I looked at the Radio One schedule, and there’s only one regular, daytime female presenter: Fearne Cotton. It’s much the same across the other stations, commercial included. There might be a single show on a schedule fronted and named after a female presenter, but if they’re on the airwaves, they’re mostly newsreaders and co-presenters - not that there’s anything wrong with either profession - but the lack shows hosted by women is glaring. A few more women appear at night time and in the early mornings, but these listener figures are way down. A few more women broadcast during the weekend, two or three hours on a Saturday or Sunday (Cerys Matthews on 6 Music does a very good show, for example) but the regular, weekday schedule is certainly male dominated.

“Sometimes you just have to chalk it all up to hip hop.” What do you guys think about his excuse? I think its really sad that he calls misogyny in his music fun and wit. I think we really need to analyze our culture if fun is objectifying women. Also Katie Couric kind of sucks as an interviewer and asks the wrong question.
